The 1.2 mile swim will be in the pristine waters of Lake Guntersville. The triathlon will have wave starts beginning at 8 a.m. A schedule for waves will be added to the site prior to the event. Triathletes will follow the bouys in a rectangle stretching across the water in front of the Goose Pond ampitheater. Triathletes will swim the course counterclockwise with 7 foot tall yellow corner bouys clearly marking the turns on the swim course. In between the turn bouys there will be a number of orange colored bouys to mark the swim course. The swim course will be well marked.
The swim course will be a two lap swim.
The average water temperatures in Lake Guntersville in early September is in the high 60's to 70's. Wetsuits will be used during the race depending on water temperature on race day. Following your swim exit, there will be volunteers to help you with wetsuit removal. It is recommended that you apply the products of your choice to help in wetsuit removal and to avoid chafing during the swim.
